'But those who hope in the LORD
will renew their strength.
They will soar on wings like eagles;
they will run and not grow weary,
they will walk and not be faint' ~ (Isaiah 40:31)

Hunger
Have you ever felt dissatisfied?.. like something was missing?..although there was no real reason to feel this way. Your needs are provided for, you have a good life...but still something niggles away.
I've been feeling this way for several weeks. I thought maybe it was depression, and shared what I was thinking with a few friends.
Finally I have come to the conclusion...that what I belive it to really be, is a holy hunger. A desire for more of God, a deeper indwelling of his spirit, and just wanting to move into a more intimate place with him.
I have a little book I borrowed of a friend, to read about the 'annointing' of God. I plan to go through it meticulously and renounce anything in my life, my past, my thought patterns etc, that could possibly hinder my moving forward in GOD. Confessing fears, inadequacies, doubts and any unbelief in any area of my life. Maybe nothing will change? I suppose thats a possibility...but just maybe something will.
LUKE 11: 9-11
9 “So I say to you: Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. 10 For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.
11 “Which of you fathers, if your son asks for a fish, will give him a snake instead? 12 Or if he asks for an egg, will give him a scorpion? 13 If you then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!”
'But if from there you seek the LORD your God, you will find him if you seek him with all your heart and with all your soul'. Deuteronomy 4:29
'Guide me in your truth and teach me,
for you are God my Savior,
and my hope is in you all day long'
(Psalm 25:5)
'My heart says of you, “Seek his face!”
Your face, LORD, I will seek'
(Psalm 27:8)
If God has more to give me..then I want it !!!!

So Far....
What a title...but its just what came to mind. This morning I woke up and went out to my garden. I like to walk around it first thing and see whats happened over night. As I was weeding, some thoughts came to mind, not original, just quotes I've read over the years:
1."Life is a long walk in humility" a quote from James Matthew Barrie, the author of Peter Pan.
Many people have the wrong idea about humility, or being humble. They think it means groveling in front of others or thinking they're no good and others are better.
My thoughts:
Humility is not something we easily aquire, but rather a quality that gradually grows in a person with an honest estimation of him/herself. When an awareness of our own shortcomings surface, we're less inclined to judge, we see more clearly the plank in our own eyes, our own weaknesses. At this stage Sister Wisdom will also become a new and worthy friend along the way. A friend aquired thorugh learning some hard lessons. When I reflect back on my life, I see a pool..a pool formed from tears...from foolish choices, from letting emotions lead and not God. Christ teaches me to wait, to hesitate, to seek him, to not assume, to not jump to conclusions and to see also the part I may have played in a situation.
“What makes humility so desirable is the marvelous thing it does to us; it creates in us a capacity for the closest possible intimacy with God” (Monica Baldwin)
The way to true peace is the way of humility and love. Significant are the words of the shepherd boy singing in John Bunyan's Pilgrim's Progress:
He that is down need fear no fall,
He that is low, no pride;
He that is humble ever shall
Have God to be his guide.
I am content with what I have,
Little be it, or much;
And Lord, contentment still I crave,
Because Thou sayest such.
The Humility of Jesus
Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. Matt 11:29 KJV
Humility is seeing yourself as God sees you: dark yet lovely (Song of Songs 1:5), weak yet strong (2 Cor. 12:9), and poor yet spiritually rich (2 Cor. 5:21). Humility is not thinking less of yourself, but thinking less about yourself. Humility is not denigrating yourself by making yourself out to be less than the total person that God has gifted and called you to be as his servant.

Poem by Mother Theresa
2. The Original Version:
The Paradoxical Commandments
by Dr. Kent M. Keith
People are illogical, unreasonable, and self-centered.
Love them anyway.
If you do good, people will accuse you of selfish ulterior motives.
Do good anyway.
If you are successful, you win false friends and true enemies.
Succeed anyway.
The good you do today will be forgotten tomorrow.
Do good anyway.
Honesty and frankness make you vulnerable.
Be honest and frank anyway.
The biggest men and women with the biggest ideas can be shot down by the smallest men and women with the smallest minds.
Think big anyway.
People favor underdogs but follow only top dogs.
Fight for a few underdogs anyway.
What you spend years building may be destroyed overnight.
Build anyway.
People really need help but may attack you if you do help them.
Help people anyway.
Give the world the best you have and you'll get kicked in the teeth.
Give the world the best you have anyway.
